After several years of racing with these engines, M50, M52, S50, S52us, we found that the harsh vibration and harmonics due to constant high revving and stiffer engine and transmission mounts often lead to cracking the oil pickup tube.The stock unmodified oil pump pickup tube can begin to develop cracks at the end of the suction tube allowing the oil pump to suck in air creating an instant loss of oil pressure! We all know how devastating and catastrophic loosing oil pressure can be, especially in race conditions, so we developed this reinforcement service which helps prevent these sort of issues.

- At the same time, while the oil pan is removed we HIGHLY RECOMMEND upgrading your factory oil pump with our Achilles Motorsport Upgraded Oil Pump. After witnessing several instances with sheered off oil pump shafts or the oil pump nut coming loose resulting in instant loss of oil pressure we decided to come up with a solution - Don't let it happen to you!
- We also recommend installing our Achilles Motorsports Oil Pan Baffle. The factory BMW oil pan doesn't do a very good job of keeping oil accumulated around the oil pick up tube in high g-force situations. This oil pan baffle design incorporates dual door traps to keep oil around the pickup tube and minimizing sloshing of the oil inside the oil pan. It will keep the oil accumulated around the oil pump pickup tube eliminating the costly loss of oil pressure and potential damage to other vital engine parts commonly caused by the high g-forces generated by hard acceleration, braking and high speed cornering.
